13:30 Workshop 1: deegree2 (Nutzer/Users)
This workshop will introduce users to deegree services by setting up a small spatial data infrastructure. The demonstration covers the set up of deegree Web Map Service (WMS), Web Feature Service (WFS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS), as well as adding sample data sets to those services. Afterwards, deegree iGeoPortal standard edition is used as web client application to interact with the installed OGC web services. An outlook on further features and ideas will wrap up this session.
Workshop 2: deegree2 (Entwickler/Developers)
In this session we will give an overview over APIs deegree offers to access vector and raster data and how to visualize them. It will be explained how deegree API can be used to define and assigne styles and how to display vector data using different coordinate reference systems. All of this will be explained by a small example program that demonstrates how you can use deegree as a library for rendering geospatial data within your own applications.
15:00 Kaffeepause / Coffee break
15:15 Parallel Session 3 (Chair: M. Müller)
K.-U. Krause und O. Bauer (TUHH): Interaktive Planungsportale - PDF (1.3 MB)
F. Pollmeier und H. Gierth (Stadt Bochum): XPlanung, X3P
R. Lessing (DELPH IMM): iGeoPortal Portlet edition & Metadaten - PDF (1.5 MB)
Parallel Session 4 (Chair: A. Zipf)
C. Heier und C. Kiehle (Wupperverband/Uni Bonn): Der OGC Web Processing Service – Implementierung in deegree und Anwendungsbeispiel - PDF (1.3 MB)
O. Schimmich und E. Lipski (Grit): OGC-konforme Erfassung von Geometrien (WFS-T)
G. Belger, A. v. Doemming und M. Schlienger (TUHH, Björnsen): Integration von deegree in KALYPSO - PDF (3.0 MB)

16:15 Workshop 3: deeJUMP
deeJUMP is a free Desktop GIS based on JUMP (J Unified Mapping Platform) and written in Java. deeJUMP has profited from deegree and has advanced the original platform to a fully functional WFS-T client. It is currently one of the most advanced GIS that can be found in the world of free GIS software. Its editing capabilities equal, if not surpass, those offered by comparable off-the-shelf, licence-bound products. The workshop is targeted at end-users and system administrators. No programming experience is necessary.
The Workshop will present the platform by showing its visualization and editing functions. Classic GIS operations and the use of deeJUMP as a WFS-T client will also be demonstrated. A short description of deeJUMP's architecture will wrap the workshop up.
Workshop 4: deegree iGeoSecurity
This workshop introduces security mechanisms in spatial data infrastructures: The specifications of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) are the prerequisite for interoperability in spatial data infrastructures. But those specifications don't define any regulation regarding the users, authorization or security mechanisms: for instance, via the URL of a known Web Map Service everybody is able to access all maps and attributed data.
This session covers the concepts of deegree iGeoSecurity on setting up deegree owsProxy and U3R (User, Rights, Roles, Resources), a GUI-based application for defining access rules. Secure connections and authentication mechanisms for OGC web services via Web Security Service (WSS) and Web Authentication Service (WAS) will be outlined as well.
Further possibilities of the security approach will be demonstrated using deegree iGeoPortal portlet edition.

Scope

After 5 years of continuous growth the deegree project currently provides the most comprehensive implementation of OGC/ISO standards in the Free Software world. To support the community process, the first get-together of users and developers will be held on June 8th, 2006, at the Department of Geography, University of Bonn.

deegree day is designed to be a platform for interaction between users and developers, and knowledge exchange. Developers will present both current and upcoming features. Users have the opportunity to report on latest project solutions. Pressing open issues in technology, communication, and project organization will be discussed on deegree day.
